BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Liver Center is hosting its annual Liver Awareness Day from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21 at Homewood Library, 1721 Oxmoor Rd., Homewood.

The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Call 205-996-7378 to register.

Discussion topics for the day include coping with liver disease; expanding your support system and supporting those you love; life after transplant; new therapies for viral hepatitis; and nutritional information for those with liver disease. Presenters include current and former patients, nutritionists, psychologists, nurse practitioners, liver specialists and others.
