BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - You can drink an "artini" to help support the art therapy program of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Center for Palliative Care  Thursday, Sept. 10. The first of what will be an annual event,  this year's Artinis will offer guests complimentary specialty martinis, hors d'oeuvres and music, as well as a chance to peruse and purchase art from local artists.

Artinis will be from 6 to 9 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 10 at the Bare Hands Gallery, 109 Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd. Tickets cost $35 per person or $60 per couple, and include three complementary martinis. Call 205-975-0848 for more information. Attire is dressy casual.

All proceeds will benefit the Art Therapy Partnership of the UAB Center for Palliative Care.  Event funds will support art therapy staffing, provide art supplies for projects, and support the Legacy Art Station - a family-friendly art space located on the UAB Palliative and Comfort Care Unit.
