BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Sandra Jean O'Neal, D.M.D., M.S., was named professor and chair emerita in the Department of Prosthodontics in the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Dentistry by the University of Alabama System Board of Trustees during its meeting Sept. 18.
O'Neal joined the UAB faculty in 1980 as assistant professor and rose through the ranks to professor in 1993. She has held a number of administrative positions at the UAB School of Dentistry, including chair of the Department of Prosthodontics from 1998 to 2009.
O'Neal is a member of a number of professional organizations, including the Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, American College of Prosthodontics, and International Association of Dental Research. She earned her doctoral and master's degrees from the UAB School of Dentistry, in 1977 and 1980, respectively.
