BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees appointed Bettye G. Wilson Associate a Professor Emerita in the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Health Professions during its Feb. 5 meeting.
Wilson received her Bachelor of Science degree in Allied Health in 1989 and Master of Arts in Education degree in Allied Health Education in 1991 from UAB. She joined the UAB faculty as a clinical instructor in the radiographer program and became an associate professor in 1996.
Wilson was a member of the UAB graduate faculty and a coordinator of the ultrasound option in the Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences Program. She served in leadership positions on the School of Health Professions Faculty Affairs, Academic Affairs and UAB Minority Student and Faculty Affairs committees and the African-American Faculty Association.
Wilson also served in numerous professional leadership positions, including with the American Society of Radiologic Technologists, American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the National Association of Medical Minority Educators.
