BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of Alabama Board of Trustees appointed Xiaohua Li, M.D., Ph.D., to the Tate Jordan Thomas Professorship in Psychiatric Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurobiology at its Feb. 5 meeting.
Li received her medical degree from Capital Medical University in Beijing, P.R. China, and her doctorate in pharmacology from UAB. She was appointed to assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurobiology in 2001 and was appointed as vice chair for research in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurobiology in 2009.
Her honors and awards include the American College of Psychiatrists Laughlin Fellowship, the NIMH Outstanding Resident Award and the UAB Department of Psychiatry Resident Outstanding Teaching Award.
