The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Engineering will celebrate its 39th birthday and host its annual Open House as part National Engineers Week Feb. 15-21.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Engineering will celebrate its 39th birthday and host its annual Open House as part National Engineers Week Feb. 15-21.

EVENTS SCHEDULE

1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15

Cake will be served for School of Engineering 39th birthday celebration in the Hoehn Engineering Building lobby, 1075 13th St. South.

12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16

The Society of Women Engineers will host professional women from Alabama Power Co. to discuss women's roles in engineering at different life stages in Hoehn Engineering Building Room 152, 1075 13th St. South.

12 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17

A Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Cupcake Social will be open to engineering students, faculty and staff. The UAB student chapter of SWE will bake cupcakes and distribute them in the Business-Engineering Complex lobby, 1150 10th Ave. South.

5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18

The annual Engineering Council of Birmingham Banquet will celebrate achievement in local engineering, and UAB Engineering Outstanding Students also will be honored at the event at The Club, 1 Robert S Smith Dr.

1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21

The School of Engineering will host an open house for prospective students, alumni, friends and supporters. Food and refreshments will be served in the Business-Engineering Complex lobby, 1150 10th Ave. South; shuttle services to the other campus engineering facilities will be provided. Guests will be able to talk with engineering faculty and students, tour engineering labs and attend career-planning seminars.
