Bodin honored by ASNA, elected to NANNP
Bodin, an assistant professor, will be presented the Overton Outstanding Educator Award at the 2013 ASNA Convention in Montgomery on Oct. 10. To be eligible for the award, the nurse educator must show several areas of success, including evidence of excellence in teaching in academic or service settings; advancing the science of nursing through clarifying, refining and/or expanding the knowledge base of nursing; promoting a theory base for nursing curricula; and influencing scholarly development in nursing education and/or research. Bodin has more than 30 years of clinical experience in neonatal intensive-care units, including serving as a bedside nurse, charge nurse, clinical nurse specialist and neonatal nurse practitioner.
Bodin's two-year term as an NANNP council member begins this month. In this role, Bodin will oversee programs and initiatives assigned by the council. Founded in 2007, the NANNP is the only national association dedicated solely to neonatal nurse practitioners. NANNP strives to improve care to neonates, infants and their families by providing a forum for neonatal nurse practitioners communication in clinical and professional practice issues, education, advocacy and research.
Bodin has been with the UAB School of Nursing since 2004.
