Alumna Fahs honored by Rural Nurse Organization for outstanding leadership
Pamela Stewart Fahs, RN, PhD, received the 2016 Anna Mae Ericksen Award from the Rural Nurse Organization (RNO) for outstanding leadership in rural nursing and the provision of health care to rural populations.
Fahs currently serves as associate dean, interim director of PhD programs and the Dr. G. Clifford and Florence B. Decker Endowed Chair in Rural Nursing at Binghamton University in New York. She received the Anna Mae Ericksen Award at the recent RNO International Rural Nursing Conference held in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Recognized for her notable contributions to rural healthcare and nursing, Fahs’ research expertise focuses on cardiovascular disease occurring in rural populations. She has been involved with the RNO for nearly 20 years, serving two terms as president and secretary, and one term as vice president.
The RNO is an organization formed for the purpose of recognizing, promoting, and maintaining the unique specialty of rural nursing practice.
She earned her PhD from the UAB School of Nursing in 1991.
