University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing Assistant Professor Jeremy Jordan, PhD, CRNP, CPNP-AC, CCRN, CNE (MSN 2014, PhD 2021), has been named a National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners Emerging Leader. NAPNAP is recognizing 50 emerging leaders as part of its “50 Forward” anniversary celebration.
“I am very honored to be selected as an Emerging Leader by NAPNAP,” Jordan said. “As we begin our 50th year as a professional organization, I am grateful for the work of trailblazing pediatric nurse practitioners who came before me. And I look forward to continuing to advance our profession and support our mission: ‘to empower pediatric-focused advanced practice registered nurses and key partners to optimize child and family health’.”
Each state chapter and Special Interest Group nominated one emerging leader from across the country, representing the diverse experience and expertise in our profession and association. The Acute Care Special Interest Group nominated Jordan for demonstrating excellence and growth during his early career.
Jordan will be featured on NAPNAP’s website and social media channels during the year as well as honored during the 44th National Conference on Pediatric Health Care in Orlando in March.
Jordan is co-chair of the Acute Care SIG and serves on the NAPNAP Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee. Jordan also serves on the Editorial Advisory Board for the Journal of Pediatric Health Care, the official journal of NAPNAP. He also developed and is co-hosting a podcast series with the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. The 10-episode series, called Team Peds Talks: The Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioners’ Impact, launched in September 2022.
“The NAPNAP motto, ‘experts in pediatrics, advocates for children’, perfectly sums up the work of our professional organization,” Jordan said. “This vision of pediatric experts who advocate for the health of children aligns with the UAB School of Nursing’s vision ‘Innovative leaders transforming health.’ The support from both NAPNAP and the UAB School of Nursing is instrumental in ensuring children grow up in happy and healthy environments.”
