Describe yourself in 3 words. Caring, cheerful, late.
If you could give one piece of advice to incoming/current students, what would it be? Don't take out student loans. If you have to, take out as little as possible. You don't want that debt hanging over you any longer than it has to.
Why did you become an optometrist? I've been a moderate-high myope since early childhood and my brother has a severe color deficiency, so the field was always interesting to me. Then, in college, my annual optometric visit ended with an offer to tech for the summer, and the rest is history.
Why did you enter the field of education? I'd always been interested in teaching, and as I finished my residency a spot had just opened up at the school. In other words, a lot of luck!
Do you have an area of specialty, if so, what is it? I love low vision and ocular disease.
If you could choose one superhero power, what would it be and why? I always wanted the power to change places immediately in line with anyone ahead of me that I could see.
Is there anything about you that your students or other faculty may not know? I really enjoy video games & recently rebuilt my PC.
What would you say is your greatest accomplishment outside of the field of Optometry? I received top marks in statewide choral competitions throughout high school and college and still have the medals.
