Mark Swanson, OD, professor at the UAB School of Optometry, has been selected to serve on the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry’s (ASCO) Audit Committee for the 2019-2020 program year. This committee helps with the proactive oversight of the association’s financial and compliance reporting process, the external audit process and financial controls.

An appointment to one of ASCO's committees and task forces is an important volunteer position that comes with significant responsibilities. These committees and task forces serve as critical drivers for ASCO’s programs and services, and are often where initial program ideas are proposed, program budgets are formulated, and policy recommendations to the Board of Directors are made. 

This is Swanson's third appointment to this committee/task force. The term will run from July 1, 2019-June 30, 2020.
