Ten students at the UAB School of Optometry have earned the title of Student Fellow with the American Academy of Optometry.
The Student Fellowship program offered by the Academy encourages students to experience the Academy’s annual meeting in the hopes it will stimulate improved integration of all opportunities offered at the meeting, encourage future involvement and persuade students to become future fellows.
The following students completed the program requirements at this year’s annual meeting, which was held Oct. 11-14 in Chicago:
- Zaid Aljabi (Class of 2020)
- Kyley Campbell (Class of 2020)
- Sarah Driscoll (Class of 2019)
- Katherine Edwards (Class of 2020)
- Elora Robbani (Class of 2020)
- Chad Robeck (Class of 2018)
- Nicole Roddy (Class of 2020)
- Haleigh Stringer (Class of 2020)
- Natalie West (Class of 2019)

The 10 students join 32 others at the School of Optometry who are Student Fellows. In order to become fellows, students must first be members of the academy at the student level. At the meeting, they complete four hours of continuing education, attend one hour of paper presentation and one hour of posters presentation sessions in addition to other required events.
Students will receive certificates and lapel pins from the Academy commemorating their status as Student Fellows.
