Poster Page Size
In the Page Setup item, under "Slide sized for”, choose “Custom”. Please be aware: Powerpoint has a maximum page size of 56”. If you need a poster that is larger than 56”, set the page size to half the required poster size. On the large print form, set poster size to its actual size, so we know to enlarge it to 200%.
-
Page Setup Example
For ARVO 2016, the maximum allowable poster size is 66” x 44”. For maximum poster size, choose the 42” roll, for a 42” poster height. The maximum page width for ARVO is 66”, so that will be your poster width. However, PowerPoint’s maximum Page Size is 56”, so set the Page Size to half your poster size: 33” x 22”.
If you want to keep the proportions (3:2), your poster size will be 63” x 42”, so set your Page Size to 31.5” x 21”.
Note: Changing poster size after creating the poster can create problems. Text may be hidden or hanging over the edge of the page, so proof your poster before sending it to print.

Inserting Pictures
Pictures copied and pasted from the web, Word, Paint or other programs can be of low quality. Printing low quality pictures on a large form printer makes the image look grainy or pixelated. To prevent this, pictures should be at least be 150dpi at a 100% poster size and 300dpi at 200% poster size. To check how your picture will look when printed in full size, zoom in to 100% (Zoom in to 200% for 200% poster sizes).
Supported files include:
- EMF and EPS image files create the best quality output, but not commonly used.
- TIFF images are usually uncompressed and high quality images.
- JPEG images are compressed so the quality varies. Make sure to save a JPEG file in “High Quality” if possible.
