Brand Launch Party draws a crowd

Thousands of Blazers stopped by the UAB Bookstore at the Hill Student Center from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. on Nov. 14 for their first chance to get their hands on merchandise with the new UAB logo and to enjoy free lunch from Chick-fil-A. Attendees could choose between UAB- or UAB Medicine-branded t-shirts or one of two styles of UAB baseball caps. They could also enter for a chance to win one of a limited number of UAB-branded water bottles.

Ten members of the UAB community who entered in person were randomly selected to receive a water bottle, including Siddesh Bynigeri, Will Harris, Kim Hazelwood, Patty Martinez, Christina McClellan, Cierra Owens, Satvi Penala, Abby Taylor and Hanbi Youn. Ramon Vega was selected to receive a UAB Bookstore gift basket. (All gave their permission to be named in this article.)

Employees Anand Iyer, M.D., and Andrea Miller Pound also received water bottles by posting about the new logo using the hashtag #TeamUAB. And two voters in a poll in the Blazer Weekly student enewsletter received a hat (Jana Lavon Reed) and water bottle (Pavan Raj Aila).

Missed the event? The UAB Bookstore is your exclusive retailer selling UAB merchandise with the new logo through January. Proceeds from sales at the UAB Bookstore support UAB Athletics.
