Six years ago, Blazers kicked a soccer ball back and forth on campus during Winter Storm Leon, which brought Birmingham to a standstill on Jan. 28, 2014.
Remembered as “Snowpocalypse” or “Snowmaggedon” to those stuck at work or school or in their cars as icy, snowy roads rendered normal commute routes inoperable, the days-long weather event gave students like those pictured an opportunity to build snowmen, hold snowball fights and spend time outside in rare Alabama winter weather.
Currently, there is no snow on the radar for Birmingham this year, but last week saw warmer temperatures and the potential for severe weather.
