UAB will close July 4 to observe the national Independence Day holiday. Most campus operations will be suspended on this day, but essential services will continue. UAB classes are scheduled, patient clinics are open and normal business services will be provided July 3.
Although Gov. Kay Ivey declared Monday a state holiday for state offices and employees, UAB will operate as usual; UAB and other institutions of higher education do not share an operational calendar with state government, which observes several special holidays throughout the year.
As always, employees are eligible to take vacation or personal time on Monday, with their supervisor’s approval.
UAB’s holiday schedule is online at uab.edu/humanresources. The next scheduled holiday is Labor Day, Sept. 4.
