Walking and stepping study for post stroke patients
The purpose of the study is to measure maximum walking speed and step length with virtual reality and customizable exercise games as feedback sources on a robotic treadmill. The targeted population is individuals with hemiparesis, in a chronic and stable stroke stage, who are able to follow instructions, and able to walk independently for at least three minutes. Based on a phone screening, eligible participants will attend up to two separate sessions at UAB Spain Rehabilitation Center. In each session, they will go into different walking or stepping performance conditions. The session will last about two hours, and participants will be paid 30$ per session for their time and effort.
