The UAB extended community collected 63 boxes of clothing, shoes, handbags and accessories suitable for work attire during the UAB Commission on the Status of Women’s annual Suits 4 Success clothing drive.

“Thanks to all who participated by giving of your time and your items,” said Alesia Jones, chair of the UAB Commission on the Status of Women and UAB’s chief human resources officer.

Jones said they estimate each box weighed 50 pounds, meaning more than 1.5 tons of clothing was donated to the YWCA of Central Alabama and My Sister’s Closet.
