USGA leads fundraiser to Pave the Way for new student center

new student centerUAB’s Hill Student Center, a part of student life for nearly three decades, was demolished in 2013 to make way for a new, improved student center scheduled to open next fall. The Undergraduate Student Government Association is turning that temporary inconvenience into a long-term opportunity to help fellow students with its Pave the Way campaign.

For $100, donors can show their school spirit or honor someone special by purchasing a paver for the new building’s common area and support the USGA Student Emergency Loan Fund, which provides assistance to undergraduate students in need.

“Through the USGA Emergency Loan Program, this past year we were able to grant small, interest-free loans to 32 students to meet expenses that helped them focus on classes,” said USGA Treasurer Weslie Shannon. “Being able to offer this and help fellow students in a stressful situation is what the UAB spirit is all about.”

Each paver is 6" x 12" and may be engraved with as many as two lines with 16 characters each. Complete the online form at www.uab.edu/give/now/pavetheway to order one today.

July 1 is the last day to order.
