UAB's 2018 Habitat Home ANDREA MABRY / University RelationsThe UAB Benevolent Fund will build its seventh Habitat House through the generosity of UAB employees, who have contributed $38,000 of the needed $50,000 to begin construction.
This year’s house is being built for Eddie Mae Hopkins in Birmingham’s Ensley neighborhood.
“We are so excited for the return of UAB’s annual Habitat House build following two long years on pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Lisa Higginbotham, Benevolent Fund manager. “Seeing Blazers work together to support a member of the Birmingham community is such a rewarding experience, and I’d encourage everyone to participate.”
Individuals with a willingness to work can register to volunteer on BlazerPulse, UAB's community engagement platform, for slots available 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday-Saturday Sept. 29-Nov. 5.
