U.S. News & World Report ranked UAB No. 33 on its inaugural list of the Best Colleges for Veterans. The university was one of 234 ranked schools; the University of Alabama ranked No. 11, and the University of Alabama in Huntsville ranked No. 48.
To qualify for the new rankings, the schools had to be certified for the GI Bill and participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program and the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges Consortium. All the "Best Colleges for Veterans" scored well in terms of graduation rate, faculty resources, reputation and other markers of academic quality.
Earlier this year, UAB placed among the magazine's Top 5 online engineering master's programs for veterans.
