The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees granted three professor emeritus appointments during its meeting Nov. 8.
N. Patrick Huggins, Ph.D., was named professor emeritus in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics in the School of Medicine. Higgins joined the UAB faculty in 1983; he was co-director of the Heflin Center for Human Genetics and director of the Biochemistry Fermentation Facility.
Alan Randich, Ph.D., was named professor emeritus in the Department of Psychology. Randich directed of the Behavioral Neurosciences Doctoral Training Program and held a secondary faculty appointment in the Department of Anesthesiology. He won the Dean’s Excellence in Mentorship Award in 2013.
Douglas Carroll Tilt, M.D., was named professor emeritus in the Department of Medicine. Tilt completed his internship and residency at UAB and holds certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine.
