Bradley Barnes, Ph.D., has been promoted to senior vice provost for enrollment management & student success, a new position created to emphasize an institutional priority of unifying the UAB student experience, from recruitment to graduation.

Barnes joined UAB in 2017 as vice provost for enrollment management, leading the UAB Division of Enrollment Management. From fall 2014 to fall 2024, UAB experienced a 12% increase in total enrollment.

“This new role is all about integrating and improving student experience, from a student’s first interaction with UAB all way through their alumni status and beyond,” said Janet Woodruff-Borden, Ph.D., senior vice president for Academic Affairs and provost. “I’m grateful for Dr. Barnes’ dedication to elevating student recruitment and success at UAB.”

As Senior Vice Provost for Enrollment Management & Student Success, Barnes will continue to oversee undergraduate admissions, university registrar, international recruitment and student services, student financial assistance, new student programs, enrollment operations, and retention initiatives.

Barnes will also lead the Strategic and Unifying Campus Collaboration that Empowers Students to Succeed (SUCCESS) Initiative, an Office of the Provost initiative focused on improving student enrollment and success.

Barnes earned his master’s degree and Ph.D. in higher education administration from the University of Alabama, where he served in undergraduate admissions and enrollment management for over 10 years.

Barnes maintains professional organization memberships including AACRAO, SACRAO and ALACRAO, and he has been published in The Journal of College Admission, The Journal of Student Financial Aid, College & University, and The SACRAO Journal.
