Kristi Lamont Ellis, director of Internal Communications and Relations at UAB, will serve as interim general manager of public radio station WBHM 90.3 beginning Oct. 1 following the retirement of longtime general manager Mike Morgan.
Dale Turnbough, associate vice president of public relations and marketing at UAB, announced the appointment Aug 30. WBHM 90.3 FM is a public service of UAB.
“We wish Mike all the best and we will miss him,” Turnbough said. “He has had a successful, 40-year career in public radio, most of it in a leadership role at WBHM, and he has played a key role in establishing the station as a respected and trusted source of news and information.”
Morgan joined the station in 1992.
Ellis joined UAB in 2005. A journalism graduate of the University of Alabama and former reporter/editor, she also has management and communications experience in the manufacturing, financial and higher education arenas. “Kristi has a passion for public radio and community service; she also has significant management, operations and non-profit fundraising experience,” Turnbough said. “She’ll make a great interim leader for WBHM.”
