Wellscreens, the annual initiative from UAB Employee Wellness, provides a free, 15-minute health screening to all benefit-eligible UAB, UAB Hospital, UAB LLC, UAB Health System/UA Health Services Foundation and Cooper Green employees. Screening dates are April 3-June 1 in 10 university and hospital locations across campus, and registration is now open.
Wellscreens measure blood pressure, total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, blood sugar, BMI, triglycerides and cholesterol/HDL ratio, giving participants a snapshot of their overall health status. Participants will receive their results at the end of their appointment, and also will be able to access them within the My Health Rewards portal 10-14 days following the screening.
“We’re excited to offer Wellscreens during the spring and fall this year, giving employees more opportunities to know their numbers,” said Employee Wellness Manager Emily Davidson. “We believe that knowledge is power, and getting screened is an important step in taking charge of your health.”

Wellscreens appointments are available at 10 campus and hospital locations; click the links below to see Campus Calendar listings:

Eligible employees enrolled in a 2023 medical plan can earn up to $350 a year through the My Health Rewards program by completing healthy activities and behaviors throughout the year — including completing a Wellscreens visit. Employees who are unable to schedule a Wellscreens visit, or who have already had lab work taken after Jan. 1 that meets the requested metrics, can earn points toward their My Health Rewards incentive by having a health care provider complete and return a Wellscreens Physician Fax Form.
Participants are encouraged to register early to ensure a Wellscreens appointment in the location, day and time that works with their schedule. To register or for more information, visit uab.edu/wellscreens. Wellscreens also will return during the fall semester.
