Where do you want your career to go? The Taking Charge of Your Career sessions can help make decisions about your professional futures. Attend upcoming sessions to learn about career mapping to advance your career, visit the resource fair to identify the next steps to a promotion, and participate in the interview sessions to improve your success during the next job interview.
LaKisha Mack, the associate dean of the School of Medicine, will discuss the importance of mapping your career goals 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Feb. 11 in the School of Nursing. Complete the career map to lay out a tentative plan for your career at UAB. If you’re still discovering what you want for your future, answer some career-planning questions to discover the path that appeals to you.
Shantay Williams, chair of the UAB Staff Council Staff Development Committee, is certain employees can benefit from attending.
Unable to make the spring sessions? Taking Charge of Your Career will return in September. |
“This is the third year of this initiative. Last year, a woman who had been working in the same position for 10 years attended one of the sessions and made the decision to follow her career map and move up in her field,” Williams said.
Offered through a partnership between UAB Learning and Development and the Staff Council, the career-mapping seminar is the second session in a four-part series that began in January. The upcoming sessions in March and April are a resource fair and interview practice; check the UAB Calendar for dates. If you’d like to participate but are unable attend spring sessions, Taking Charge of Your Career will return in August and run through December.
