If you missed the ETS open house held Feb. 8, you still have an opportunity to see and use some of the technology that was demonstrated – and evaluate sample flexible-style furniture being suggested as the standard for UAB classrooms.
The proposed technology standard for UAB classrooms will be available in Mervyn H. Sterne Library Room 158 during select times through March 12 for faculty to evaluate. In addition to the technology, the new flexible-style furniture is available for faculty review and use in ETS 238T3 in Educational Technology Services on the second floor area of the Education Building.
Already available to faculty for classes through Schedule 25, this room also will be open during select times for others to drop in and see the new environment.
These evaluations are a part of the Classroom Enhancement Project facilitated by Campus Planning and sponsored by the Office of the Provost and the Office of Information Technology. The particular technology setup in Mervyn H. Sterne Library and the furniture in ETS 238T3 are the result of recommendations gathered on campus earlier in the academic year and from consultants involved with the design of intelligent classrooms. Faculty are encouraged to use and evaluate both the technology and the flexible learning environments, including completing an evaluation form with their comments and feedback.
The Sterne Library Room 158 will be open during the following times: Monday, March 5 from 2-4 p.m.; Tuesday, March 6 from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.; Wednesday, March 7 from 8-10:30 a.m.; Friday, March 9 from 9:30 a.m.-noon and Monday, March 12 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. ETS283T3 will be open Tuesday, March 6 and Thursday, March 7 from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
