UAB’s Gospel Choir has been selected as the 2007 College Choir of the Year, winning the Alabama People’s Choice Award in the inaugural Alabama People’s Choice Gospel Awards.

The Alabama’s People’s Choice Gospel Awards is a ceremony saluting Alabama’s own recording artists, composers, performers and those in the music industry at large. The awards ceremony was held in January at the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church.

“On behalf of the UAB Gospel Choir, we say thank you first to UAB for your undying support and to the greater Birmingham area community at large,” says Kevin P. Turner, director of the UAB Gospel Choir. “This choir has had tremendous opportunities these past 11 years to do many notable things, and we count this an honor to be recognized in this fashion.”
