The second annual Are U ABle? 5K and 1 mile run, walk, or roll, organized by UAB physical therapy students and faculty, was held at Oak Mountain State Park. Two hundred participants of all ages and abilities participated in the 3.1 mile run and 1 mile fun run. The awards were hand made by the UAB Doctor of Physical Therapy students. Physical therapy clients at the Children’s Hospital put their hand and foot prints on the awards which made them very special for winners. Through sponsors and donations from local physical therapy clinics and businesses, the UAB doctoral students raised more than $6,000 to donate to the Foundation for Physical Therapy. This donation will fund of research grants to test interventions and methods in physical therapy.
