The Spain Rehabilitation Center is hosting its annual silent auction for the Patient Assistance Fund Tuesday, Oct. 28.
The event is from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the West Pavilion Atrium. Money raised for the auction will be utilized to aid patients who don’t have insurance or the financial ability to purchase items such as walkers and wheel chairs.
Autographed footballs by Nick Saban and Tommy Tuberville will be available for auction. Other prizes available include gift certificates for area restaurants, golf courses, beauty and spa organizations and cultural, arts and children’s entertainment. Arts, crafts and home decorations also will be offered. A message therapist also will be present to give chair massages at the auction for a donation.
“We have had a lot of enthusiasm in the community and we’re really looking forward to this year’s auction,” says Libby Barnes, physical therapist in Spain Rehab. “We’ve extended the time this year to two-and-a-half hours because the demand was there based on last year’s auction. This will enable more people to participate.”
Winners do not have to be present at the end of the auction to win the item.
If you would like to donate items for the auction or make a monetary donation to the Patient Assistance Fund, contact Libby Barnes at 934-4940 or elbarnes@uabmc.edu.
