Interim Dean Jean Linney, Ph.D., has announced the appointment of two associate deans for the College of Arts and Sciences.

Professor Catherine Danielou, Ph.D., Department of Foreign Languages & Literatures, now is associate dean for Academic Affairs. She will have oversight and coordination responsibilities for curriculum issues, academic advising, First Year Experiences for Arts and Sciences majors, assessment, learning outcomes and development of the QEP in its respective programs. Linney said Danielou is known across campus for her expertise in working with the WEAVE system that is used for tracking learning-outcomes and program improvement.

Danielou will convene a group of faculty from the four-school curriculum and academic affairs to review inconsistencies in curricular requirements, and she will take the lead on coordination of Academic Advising across the college.

Professor David Graves, Ph.D., Department of Chemistry, now is associate dean for Research and Faculty Development. He will be working with faculty from the existing school faculty affairs committees to develop an integrated Faculty Policy and Procedure Manual for the college that will address issues of concern to faculty including workload, sabbatical, tenure and promotion and faculty-performance reviews.

Graves also will be charged with coordinating and developing the portfolio of scholarship, research and creative activity across the college, including IT resources, space, equipment and research and service centers.
