Jonathan Miller is Assistant Vice President for Research Regulatory Oversight. He works closely with the various UAB research oversight offices to coordinate and integrate administrative and regulatory procedures to ensure efficient processing and activation of research projects. He also helps with the ongoing implementation of the Integrated Research Administration Portal (IRAP), the research administration software.

Miller has 12 years of experience in research administration and regulatory compliance, most recently having served as Director of the UAB Office of the IRB. He previously served as IRB officer and assistant director of the Office of Regulatory Compliance at Mississippi State University.

Jonathan’s educational background includes a BS in Microbiology and a Master of Public Policy and Administration, a combination that provides complementary views on human subjects protections. Jonathan has been an active member of Public Responsibility in Medicine and Research (PRIM&R) for a number of years. This involvement has included invitations to serve as faculty at several national conference workshops. Most recently, he served on the planning committee for the 2011 PRIM&R Advancing Ethical Research Conference as a member of the social, behavioral, and educational research subcommittee.
