What if there are multiple sub projects? How are they listed?
The researcher should provide the project number, PD/PI name for the prime award. All other information, including the total award amount and person months, should be specific the subaward. Each project would be listed as a single entry listing the total cost of the award (all contributions).

If a project is still active but your effort on the project has ended, should it be included in the completed section?
Projects should be grouped together based on the Status of Support in the order of ACTIVE, PENDING, and COMPLETED support from top to bottom. If the Other Support is for the PI of the grant, it must show the committed CM effort in the ACTIVE section (NIH will only allow “Mentor” in the effort field and a minimum of 0.12 CM (1%). If it is for another investigator on a grant that is still active but the investigator no longer has committed effort, then it should move to COMPLETED section but still show the dates.

The NIH bio sample shows the PI and Role for all grants listed. Please confirm that we are not to list role on the other support page.

If there is no project number, can we list UAB OSP # so that we may track the projects? We sometimes have multiple subcontracts from the same entity with an almost identical title.
No. You should not list the UAB OSP # on the Other Support. Multiple subcontracts should have a Project Number or some type of unique identifier assigned by the sponsor.

Can we omit funding information on the biosketch if the PI chooses to?
Yes. OSP recommends that you omit the funding information in Section A in the Biosketch since it’s not a requirement. If you choose to include funding information, make sure the information is accurate and the dates are correct.

Do we still include the UAB tables at the end of the new other support template?
No. You do not have to include the UAB tables in the new Other Support.

Will the Other Support be needed once the grant gets funded? Or will it be needed during proposal submission?
Other Support is needed at Just-In-Time and at the time of the progress report submission (RPPR); not at proposal submission time.

If there are personnel in PI’s lab who are are paid from PI’s University SUF, does that need to be listed under in-kind support?
Yes. They should be included regardless if they are paid or not paid.

Is the personal statement expected to reflect the studies and effort for all the grants?
For the Personal Statement, you should briefly describe why you are well-suited for your role in the project described in this application. The relevant factors may include aspects of your training; your previous experimental work on this specific topic or related topics; your technical expertise; your collaborators or scientific environment.

For grants (such as a P30) with many senior key folks, do we send separate documents for each person, or one flattened pdf with all?
Flattened copies of the Other Support can be combined into one PDF file; especially for your eRA Commons uploads. When sending the original digitally signed copy of the Other Support to OSP, you will send them as separate PDF files.

We were instructed to upload the flattened copy to eRA Commons but to send the certified signed copy from Adobe. That means on a multi-component award, we will send several separate Adobe certified docs.
