The School of Health Professions Office of Research and Innovation (SHP-R&I) held its first Specific Aims Page Writing Workshop Friday, March 24, 2023.
Investigators from SHP’s Departments of Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences, Health Services Administration, Nutrition Sciences, and Occupational Therapy attended the workshop and received one-on-one feedback on their specific aims pages from a visiting grant writing consultant.
A grant’s specific aims page sums up the purpose of an investigator’s research. Its clarity and persuasiveness is key to a successful proposal. This workshop just one of the initiatives that SHP-R&I has introduced as part of its mission to foster a flourishing research culture within the school.

Follow-Up: REACH Grant Writing Group
“As a follow-up to this workshop, we have created the REACH Grant Writing Group,” says Dr. Ritu Aneja, associate dean for research and innovation. “Our goal is to create a safe space where participants can share their challenges and successes, get feedback and encouragement, and hold each other accountable as they prepare their grants for submission.”
REACH stands for “Research Acceleration Holistic Program,” a cohort-based program designed to accelerate research development and growth via mentoring, coaching, and grantsmanship training. Interested in joining future grant writing workshops? Contact
