Lego Procedural Social Distancing copyUAB Simulation Community,

During this unprecedented time, we are writing to update you and to ask for your continued partnership. As we begin transitioning to more on-site simulation activity in the UAB Clinical Simulation/Office of Interprofessional Simulation for Innovative Clinical (OIPS) center, our primary goal is the safety of our staff, our learners, and our patients. We have been working to develop and deploy safety measures and guidelines to reduce the risk of transmission in our simulation spaces. We are following guidelines set forth by the CDC, peer simulation centers, UAB and UAB Medicine. This means simulation events will be different than before. We will proceed with social distancing practices, masks, and reduced facility capacity. We are asking that all participants in simulation activities adhere to general guidelines intended to promote both a physically and psychologically safe learning environment.

The UAB Clinical Simulation/OIPS liaison(s) for your simulation activities will work with you to modify the plans for your events to meet these guidelines and to make sure we are providing simulation experiences that meet your needs. We will contact you prior to previously scheduled events to work through these modifications and work with you to provide new events which help to meet essential training opportunities. We appreciate your patience as we work to provide a safe environment for continued simulation education activities and as we work to reduce the risk of transmission in our center.

We are actively monitoring the continuously evolving situation and will adapt our solutions to maintain a priority on the health and safety of our learners, partners, and staff. Please visit our Resources webpage to view our COVID-19 Guidelines for Simulations for further details.

Please contact simulation@uab.edu if you have any questions, thoughts, or concerns. Thank you for partnering with us to See One, Sim Some, Harm None.
