Master's in Public Health Degrees based its rankings on an initial list of more than 130 accredited colleges and universities that offered at least one public health program by the National Center for Education Statistics. Factors such as tuition, website quality, available concentrations and a recognition by U.S. News & World Report were taken into consideration.

According to Master's in Public Health Degrees, UAB ranked second due in part for helping its students develop skills in order to address public health issues.
