Each month, the Division of Student Affairs selects an employee who stands out for their commitment, compassion, and integrity. Chosen from a pool of nominations reviewed by the Professional Development Committee, the recipient is recognized not only for their exceptional performance but also for their embodiment of the Division’s core values, demonstrating a profound impact on their colleagues, students, and the overall mission of the university.
The September Employee of the Month is Bemnet Teshome, coordinator of Off-Campus Student Engagement.
What nominators said about Bemnet:
Bemnet demonstrated collaboration, accountability, and dedication while supporting Student Involvement and Leadership’s fall Connect Fest. Not only did he volunteer but proactively offered assistance by securing sponsors and assisting with event prep, survey generation, and cleanup. Bemnet also helped increase survey responses by 400%, recruited a sponsor, and even took on heavy tasks like unloading 200+ cases of water. He stayed through the entire event and ensured everything ran smoothly, showing an outstanding work ethic and positive attitude throughout.
“Bement keeps his word when he gives it, pursues the highest standard of engagement with his colleagues and students and strives to be impactful. He welcomes all he encounters and intentionally works to be a difference maker. We are so grateful for Bemnet's partnership and see him as a colleague we can call on to support our office's mission, and we hope he too will call on us in return.”
Bemnet was also noted for always going above and beyond and embodying the core values of Student Affairs.
