UAB Student Affairs has exceptional staff members who serve our campus with professionalism, kindness, and integrity. Each month, an employee who exemplifies the Blazer Way is honored based on a pool of nominations presented to the Professional Development Committee.

The October Employee of the Month is Savaria Phillips, a Laboratory Technician for Student Health Services. Phillips continues to exceed expectations in her role.

Savaria exemplifies each one of our division values on a daily basis. She is one of our lab techs at Student Health. Her job is very demanding with lots of moving parts, yet she manages it with confidence and a consistent smile. She pursues excellence with each encounter. Anytime I have a question for her, she goes above and beyond to help me find an answer. She is patient and willing to assist even when it adds something extra to her plate. She puts quality patient care at the forefront and truly prioritizes the wellbeing of our students.

I've also found Savaria to be incredibly inclusive when interacting with others around her. She treats people in a way that upholds their inherent value. She is truly kind- a character trait that is humble and to be admired. Savaria is one who unifies our team. She is trustworthy, full of integrity, accountable and is deserving of this honor.
