On Friday, June 17, the UAB Division of Student Affairs held its annual One-Day Conference. More than 150 Blazers attended the free event.
The theme of this year's event was "Removing Barriers and Fostering a Sense of Belonging: Student Success at UAB." The One-Day Conference focuses on building community among staff and provide professional development opportunities. Student Affairs staff and campus partners led sessions during the conference.
UAB staff gave presentations on their work and best practices in the profession. There were three session blocks and an interactive Q&A session. Topics such as "How Family Engagement Increases Student Success: UAB Study Results," "Removing Barriers for Access to Basic Needs," and "Social Justice and Inclusion Focused on Excellence and Health Promotion" were discussed during the session blocks. Old Dominion University President Brian Hemphill delivered the keynote address on "Disruption: The Future of Higher Education."
The next One-Day Conference is scheduled for May 2023.
