UAB Student Affairs has exceptional staff members who serve our campus with professionalism, kindness, and integrity. Each month, an employee who exemplifies the Blazer Way is honored based on a pool of nominations presented to the Professional Development Committee.
The May Employee of the Month is Taylor Stewart, Nurse Coordinator for UAB Student Health Services. Stewart continues to exceed expectations in her role. Her work ethic and commitment to all Blazers that visit SHS make her one to be celebrated.
What nominators said about Taylor Stewart:
Ms. Stewart is the Nurse Coordinator for Immunizations and Medical Clearance at SHS. She is responsible for the coordination and oversight of immunization clearance for all on-campus students, which is a critically important public health and safety measure for UAB.
Her position is one that can be easily taken for granted; however, it is essential to the well-being of our campus. Since joining the SHS team in 2022, Taylor has not only learned the role quickly, but has made many improvements and increased efficiency in the process. Taylor understands the value of communication regarding immunization requirements and has worked to communicate with students who are non-compliant for immunizations ahead of the registration window, as well as students who may have impending expiring requirements. She also understands the value of a systems-based approach to immunization clearance and utilizes our electronic tools effectively to improve and streamline processes. She identifies problems quickly and collaborates with necessary partners to solve them. She works closely with our nursing and clinical support staff and our administrative staff to coordinate all aspects of immunization clearance and is a true team player.
Finally, she shows excellence and integrity in her communication with students, is consistent and clear in her instructions, and always works with them in confusing and difficult situations. Taylor truly deserves the employee of the month award as she is an invaluable member of our team!
