Are you ready to head into the streets?
Join UAB Student Involvement & Leadership and the Leadership Service Council for the Spring 2018 installment of Into the Streets: A Day of Service. The event will take place on Saturday, March 24 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Hill Student Center Amphitheater (rain location is the UAB Campus Recreation Center).
Into the Streets is a biannual, student-led day of service that provides more than 600 UAB students, faculty and staff an opportunity to participate in a vast array of community service projects throughout Birmingham. Students are allocated into groups, then sent to varying service sites and designated as areas-of-need by UAB and partnering nonprofit organizations.
Projects include interactions with the elderly, tutoring children for literacy, math, and science, home builds and repairs, neighborhood clean-ups, assisting at the zoo, completing yard work and more.
Many students opt to continue their service commitment well beyond this annual program, with the ultimate goal of helping others and ensuring The Magic City becomes stronger.
