Hundreds of UAB students will join forces on Saturday, March 25 as part of Into the Streets, a city-wide, student-led day of service organized by the UAB Leadership and Service Council. More than 400 student volunteers participate each fall and spring semester to serve at volunteer sites throughout Birmingham. Sites are selected by members of the Signature Service Committee of UAB LSC, with past partnerships including Habitat for Humanity, American Red Cross, Village Creek Society and Botanical Gardens. Committee members also facilitate the selection of other UAB students to serve as site leaders at each volunteer site for the day.
The event will begin with registration from 8-8:45 a.m. at the Hill Student Center amphitheater where students can sign up for volunteer sites on a first come, first served basis. Students must bring their ONECard to register and will volunteer at sites from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. After volunteering, students will return to campus and enjoy lunch. Volunteers are responsible for transportation to and from volunteer sites.
