Do you think you have what it takes to climb the world’s tallest mountain? Starting Sept. 10, students and Birmingham residents will have the opportunity to test their rock climbing skills by participating in the UAB Everest Challenge. UAB’s indoor rock climbing wall allows climbers to complete the distance of Mt. Everest without freezing in the harsh snows of Nepal and Tibet.
Don’t worry, the challenge will be available until April 17, 2019. To sign up, climbers must purchase a $10 ticket at Outdoor Pursuits Rental Center or the membership desk, both located at the UAB Campus Rec. Climbers will also have to sign the indoor climbing waiver located here, or you can fill out a form in-person. Harness and shoes are available for rent at the Rec as well. If you are unfamiliar with rock climbing techniques, attend UAB’s climbing and belaying clinic or belay refresher found here. Reach new heights with the UAB Everest Challenge!
