Become a lifeguard through the University Recreation spring certification courses. Two sessions will be offered: Course A, February 7-10 and Course B, April 4-7. New lifeguards can earn $25 in addition to their hourly wage for working one full semester and $50 in addition for two consecutive semesters. As a lifeguard, students can build interpersonal skills that will benefit them in any future workplace. Lifeguards are leaders, communicators, team members, and contribute to the overall safety of the University Rec.
Registration closes February 4 at 5 p.m. for Course A, and on April 1 at 5 p.m. for Course B. Some of the requirements include the ability to swim 100 yards, tread water for two minutes, and complete the learning content before the first session.
