As finals approach, Stress Less Week offers a way for students to relax and recharge! Join UAB Student Involvement & Leadership and Student Counseling Services for a week-long celebration before exams. Take advantage of many student resources designed to alleviate stress and help you prep for exam week. Explore the various offerings below, and don’t forget to RSVP on Engage.




Monday 11/27


Tuesday 11/28

  • Break Away the Stress
    Student Counseling Services is bringing the rage room to you! Visit the Hill Student Center (HSC) Amphitheater from 12 to 2 p.m., put your stressful thoughts inside a glass bottle, and then break it apart.
  • Mural Painting
    Pick up a paintbrush from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and fill the Blazer Kitchen walls with color to destress before finals. Blazer Kitchen is located at 1613 11th Avenue South and students can gain volunteer hours from participating.
  • MHA Stress Less Presentation
    Join the Mental Health Ambassadors (MHA) from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. as they present ways to stress less before finals in Hill Student Center (HSC) Suite 318
  • MHA Tie-Dye Party
    Join the MHA for tie-dye fun and learn about on-campus resources from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. in The Hill Student Center (HSC) Ballroom D.
  • Yoga with Prema
    Find a moment of clarity as Prema with UAB URec leads yoga in Studio 1.

Wednesday 11/29

  • Blazer Bash Car Smash
    Join the UAB National Alumni Society from 12 to 3 pm. and smash your stress away on the Campus Green - North Plaza. Safety equipment and sledgehammers will be provided.
  • Puppy Happy Hour
    Join the Collegiate Recovery Community (CRC) from 12 to 3 p.m. and recharge with puppy cuddles, snacks, games, and more. Their office is located at 1102 12th Street South between Subway and Pita Stop.
  • Cold Yoga on the Green
    Find your zen on the Campus Green - North Plaza from 6 to 6:45 p.m. and immerse yourself in cool weather and soothing vibes of sound-bathing. This is a part of University Recreation’s URec on the Go series, where they bring fitness and well-being to you.
  • Cycle 45 with Callie
    Join Callie with UAB URec at 7:15 p.m. in Studio 4 for a super fun spin class for anyone, whether a pro or beginner. Have fun on the cycle while destressing from finals.

Thursday 11/30

  • Kick Start a.m. with Retta
    Join URec at 8:30 a.m. in Studio 4 and get your day started with Retta as they lead a powerful heart-pounding blend of cardio, step, and kickboxing to upbeat music.
  • emPOWer Hour
    Engage in fun activities, grab free snacks and swag in the Hill Student Center (HSC) Amphitheater from 2 to 3:15 p.m. as Wellness Promotion and their peer health educators empower you through finals week.
  • Finals’ Study Party
    Enjoy food, games, and door prizes while you prep for finals week from 6 to 10 p.m. in Sterne Library, Vulcan Materials Academic Success Center (VMASC) Suite with First Year Experience (FYE). VMSAC tutors and Student involvement (SI) leaders will lead group sessions on several subjects.

Friday 12/1

  • Elemental Yoga with Lex
    Join URec at 7 a.m. in Studio 1 for the last day of Stress Less Week and wind down by exploring the art of yoga.
