Student Counseling Services will host a series of events to promote awareness about stress, anxiety and depression in preparation for finals. It is the department’s hope that this will create a supportive community on UAB’s Campus. If you’re feeling anxious about finals, take a moment to reflect on all of the hard work you have accomplished over this past year. While you’re studying, take a break and discover the great programs Student Counseling Services has planned for you.
Beginning Tuesday, April 17, the office will present “Meditation on the Green” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bring your yoga mat and a friend for a morning of fresh air and relaxation. If weather does not permit, the session will be relocated to the Blazer Hall RLC.
On Wednesday, April 18, students can relax in the performance lounge of the Hill Student Center. The office will provide massage chairs for students to use from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Following an afternoon of unwinding, students can return to the Blazer RLC that evening for a “Party with the Greeks.” Partnering with Student Involvement and Greek Life the party will take place from 7-9 p.m. There will be music, games and light refreshments for all to enjoy as students dance their stress away.
The week will chill out on Thursday, April 19 as students gather on the first floor of the Hill Student Center for “Good Games UAB.” Televisions and video games will be set up from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Students can also enjoy an array of board games provided by the department.
Wrapping up Stress Less Week, Student Involvement and Leadership will host “Brinner and a Movie” in the Hill Student Center Ballroom. Enjoy breakfast for dinner as you are entertained by a showing of Jumanji, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
