Supporting Students

The gyms may be closed, but that doesn't mean you can’t stay active at home! Here are 7 ways you can stay active during quarantine.

UAB URec Virtual 5k

Our very own rec center is hosting a virtual 5k Saturday, March 28. No registration is necessary-- the event is open to anyone who wants to participate! Simply complete a 5k run or walk anywhere you are able to maintain a 6-foot distance from others. Share photos of your race with #URecVirtual5k!

Planet Fitness

Planet Fitness has shifted its workout classes to the internet. Visit their facebook page for free live workouts at 6pm daily. Plus, they leave the videos up so you can access them at any time.

Rumble

Want to workout via instagram live? Check out Rumble's IG for a live bodyweight workout once a day. These workouts require no equipment. All you need is an Instagram account!

Corepower Yoga

Into yoga? The Corepower Yoga site has tons of free yoga routines you can follow from the comfort of your living room.

Orange Theory

Check out the Orange Theory app and website for free workout videos. These videos require minimal equipment-- you are even encouraged to utilize household items!

YMCA

The YMCA website features free workout videos in all categories. Self isolation is a great time to start a new workout style like Barre or Tai Chi. YMCA makes that easy!

For the Kids

UAB URec Camps are unfortunately closed, but URec still wants your kids to have fun! The youth programming team created a list of activities that families can do from home. Try an indoor alphabet scavenger hunt or create a comic book of your ideal day at UAB URec Camps. For more ideas, visit URec Facebook.
