UAB Student Affairs and Veteran Services invites you to the 11th annual Wreath Laying Ceremony in honor of Veterans Day. The event will take place Friday, November 10, in the Hill Student Center Ballrooms at 12 p.m.
LTC Jamaine J. Williams, a professor of military science in the Army ROTC program, Blazer Battalion, is this year’s featured speaker. Williams, a Detroit native, has served in the Armed Forces since 2001 and obtained a BA in Criminology, MA in Business Security Management, MMAS in Military Strategic Studies. He is a Bronze Star Medal recipient, amongst numerous other military awards, and served all over the continental US, Iraq, Korea, Italy, and over 30 African countries. He also worked in Liberia to eradicate Ebola in West Africa in 2014 and on the program for COVID-19 response operation warp speed relief and monitoring.
UAB ROTC Color Guard will present the Posting of the Colors, followed by Jayda Cox singing the National Anthem of the United States. Nathaniel Rutledge, retired Bessemer chief of police, will provide a prayer and a rendition of, “America the Beautiful.” Dr. Rebbeca Kennedy will introduce our speaker, LTC Jamaine J. WIlliams. First Lieutenant Demetrius Pearson will be saluting the wreath. Walter C. Stewart III, director of Veterans Services, will provide the closing remarks.
