Student Counseling Services will offer three student groups this fall. Attendees can learn everything from meditation practices, how to build personal resilience and tools to regulating overwhelming emotions throughout the academic year.
- Mindfulness, Meditation & Relaxation group is open to the public and will meet weekly in the Wellness House on 9th Avenue South from 12:15 - 12:45 p.m. Doors will close promptly at 12:15 p.m. in order to maximize the short meeting time. The first meeting is Sept. 13 and no registration is necessary. A few topics will include mantra meditation, progressive muscle relaxation, guided imagery, and walking or stretching meditation.
- Personal Exploration is a weekly therapy group designed to empower students to develop new ways of relating to others, build new coping skills to manage life stressors and increase personal resilience. This group will meet every Wednesday starting Oct. 4 in the Student Health & Wellness Center Conference Room from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. You must already be visiting with a counselor in order to enroll in this group.
- Doing Better Together is an active therapeutic skills group with a mission to help attendees increase coping skills, regulate overwhelming emotions, become effective in interpersonal relationships and gain mindfulness skills. The group will meet every Friday, starting Sept. 29 in the Student Health & Wellness Conference Room from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. You must already be visiting with a counselor in order to enroll in this group.
