Trey Clark, UAB’s former head strength and conditioning coach, has been internally hired to replace Mike Bennefield, the previous offensive line coach.
Bennefield, whose son is a long snapper for the Blazers, resigned May 11 due to personal reasons, according to an AL.com article, and now plans to pursue positions as a high school coach in the Jacksonville area.
Clark served as an offensive line coach in the past for JSU for the past two seasons. In the past year, the JSU Gamecocks were ranked No. 1 for the majority of the season, reaching the FCS championship game.
During his college days, he was a starting offensive lineman himself between 2009 and 2012 at South Alabama, bringing personal experience to the field.
